The Jurying Process

Juried Craft Shows are those in which crafters are only accepted into a show after a committee has judged the crafter’s work appropriate for their show.

Crafters are often required to send either photos, slides or samples of their work & display.  It is not uncommon for Juries to charge a fee just for the priviledge of having your work shown.

The process is intended to maintain strict quality standards (often meaning it is original &
handcrafted).  Sometimes jurying takes place to ensure a good mix of different items will be in the show.  In which case, jurying can be used to limit how many crafters with similar crafts are accepted.

Don’t get discouraged if you are not accepted into a show.  It may have nothing to do with the quality of your work.  You may just be in a category that is closed out!!!    Try again—
