How Much Merchandise Do I Need?

As a new crafter, you may not be sure if you have enough merchandise to take to a craft show.  As you begin doing craft shows, you will see a variety of different sizes of displays and vehicles transporting it. Depending upon the show, you could see everything from mid-sized cars to oversized trucks filled with merchandise.

How do you know what’s right for you?  A good rule of thumb for many crafters is to carry at least $5,000 worth of merchandise.  Can you fit that in your vehicle?  This is where the size of the vehicles becomes an issue for many crafters.  If you currently own a car and your craft is dried floral wreaths, you probably would run into trouble carrying your display and craft.  On the other hand, if you own a large cargo van, it may be more than what is needed for somone with higher priced jewelry as their craft.

Many crafters may disagree with this amount of merchandise.  Remember, ultimately, how much stock you bring to craft shows is your choice.  This is your business.  You are the best judge of what you need.
